A tired hotel in desperate need to a refurb. Check in was good and the service was professional, happy and quick. The room was on the 12th floor which normally wouldn’t be an issue but with only 2 lifts which are painfully slow it was ridiculous. The room itself was dated with a broken iron and a thermostat that had only one setting, hot. The reception told me I should have said something which is correct but I was shattered and not in the mood to swap rooms so late. I can’t fault the staff or service, the Melia Group needs to invest some money before corporate guests find alternatives like the Bocello around the corner

Check in okay. Landing area on floor 6 rather grubby. Room basic, no tea or coffee making facilities, just 2 bathroom glasses. Bathroom okay except for the fact it's a shower over the bath rather than a shower cubicle. For a 75 year old the latter would have been better. Arrived back at the hotel at 11.20pm after a night at the theatre,and a drink would have finished off the evening, except the hotel bar closed at 11pm. Seemingly after 11pm there are no services available. Have had a poor Melia experience in the past. There won't be a third time.

I love to drink English breakfast Tea or any natural tea without flavours , and the Melia Hotel group where I always try to stay every time when I come to Spain on business cannot give me tea in my room, so you must bring your own tea bags and milk

Pros - good sized room - a very well spread breakfast with hot and cold options Cons - lobby is sad and basically just the entry way - rooms felt like an old and damp motel - linens and bedding were not comfortable - barely any in room amenities - outlet charging is slow - internet is slow - there is not much around the hotel. It felt like a poor area. Others - checkin/out process was ok - air conditioning was ok for the summer heat - we only stayed one night as it was basically a quick rest point for us to take the train early out of Madrid the next morning. It’s ok for super short stay and served it’s purpose being walkable to Chamartin station.

Disappointed that the hotel pool was closed by a couple of days - no information available about the hotel or facilities - breakfast on the first day was excellent but the next two mornings the hot breakfast was tepid - rooms clean - no English speaking TV channels - location was good for central Madrid
